All of his films are worth several viewings.
I think I agree, Stephen.. These films have more depth than is obvious at first. I need to see his entire body of work, then start again with my favorites, Le Cercle Rouge is next on my list.
In my opinion, he's the more talented artist named Melville! (Herman wrote Moby Dick)
